3D isn’t a new technology, in fact it has been around since 1840. In those days it was called stereoscope and was used to create the illusion of depth in traditional 2D paintings. The world we live in is 3D, it has width, height and depth and us humans are able to perceive this relationship with the objects around us just by looking at them. Because we have depth of perception, even though the eye forms 2D images our brain processes these images into 3D, which is exactly what 3D technology does, it basically tricks the brain into processing the images from a flat 2D to well formed 3D.

An attempt to make 3D commercially acceptable was attempted in the 1980s with the highly attractive cardboard glasses that kept falling off. Thankfully, 3D Display technology has progressed enourmously in the last few of years and is finally ready to take over your living room. While current 3D offerings in the market provide an excellent 3D experience to consumers, this new technology can be quite confusing to the uninformed.

What makes matters worse is that there is a lot of terminology being used by the makers of LCD and Plasma HD TVs, DVD Player and 3D Cameras, such as 3D Ready, Smooth Motion and Sub-Field Drive, Time sequential 3D, etc.
In addition, it is a daunting task to choose the right 3D HD TV, 3D Blu Ray DVD Player, 3D Camera or 3D Camcorder for your home given all the various considerations such as display technology, TV screen size, Optimal viewing distances, Best  TV Brands, etc…..which is where this site comes in.
